| Singer/Songwriter Johnny Prill from Bad Axe, Michigan has been writing and recording songs for over thirty years. He has received the National Songwriter Award from the National Grandparents Day Council out of Chula Vista, California. The award was presented in recognition of Johnny’s highly popular composition “A Song For Grandma And Grandpa” which is now the official song of National Grandparents Day! Johnny wrote and recorded a tribute song honoring Marian McQuade, the founder of National Grandparents Day. Click here to view the lyrics and listen to the song. In a recent interview, Johnny had the opportunity to talk about his grandparents, his volunteer work at local nursing homes and what inspired him to write "A Song For Grandma And Grandpa." Johnny presented “Mr. Las Vegas” Wayne Newton with a song that he had written titled “The King of Las Vegas” which was inspired by the book “Once Before I Go” the biography on Wayne Newton’s life. Johnny wrote and recorded a song titled “Maria, My Sweet Rose” which was promoted to International Pop and Country Radio. “Maria, My Sweet Rose” charted on many Top 40 International Play Lists and quickly became a favorite. Johnny also wrote a song titled "House Of Blues" honoring B. B. King and his famous guitar "Lucille." Johnny has been fortunate to have many of his songs recorded by various artists. Bobby Vinton has recorded a number of Johnny’s songs including “Proud To Be An American” which appeared on Bobby Vinton’s self-titled album “Bobby Vinton.” “Old Friends” a ballad, Johnny wrote for Bobby talks about Bobby’s life in Canonsburg, Pennsylvania – growing up with his “Old Friend” his clarinet. Bobby has performed “Old Friends” in many of his live shows. Johnny’s songs have also been featured in numerous publications including “Country Weekly,” “The Las Vegas Weekly,” “The Detroit News,” and “The Detroit Free Press.” |
